BIOGRAPHY
Professor Fabienne Brilot obtained her PhD in Belgium and at the JD Gladstone Institutes, UCSF, USA. She then became postdoctoral fellow under the mentorship of Professor Christian Munz (currently located at the University of Zurich, Switzerland) at the Browne Center for Immunology and Immune Diseases headed by late Professor Ralph Steinman (Nobel Prize for Medicine 2011) at the Rockefeller University, USA. She was recruited at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney in 2007 where she started the Brain Autoimmunity group.
Fabienne is currently Principal Research Fellow and Professor of Neuroimmunology at the University of Sydney, Australia. Her research interests are the discovery of biomarkers informing diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of brain immune-mediated diseases including brain demyelination and autoimmune neurological diseases.
She is a member of ISNI International Advisory Board, and chairs the ISNI We Are Neuroimmunology mid-career award committee. She was the scientific chair of the 14th ISNI Congress (Australia, 2018), and the co-convenor of the 3rdAsia-Pacific School of Neuroimmunology (Sydney, 2023). She is the President of Neuroimmunology Australia. She is an editorial board member and a reviewer for many journals in the field of neuroimmunology.
